Keshav Maharaj is a South African spinner who is well known for his devotion to Lord Ram. He went viral on social media when the DJ at Newlands during the second test match against India played the song ‘Ram Siya Ram’ when he arrived to bat.

A few days back, he joined his IPL Franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow, he received his welcome in a very unique style. In a video shared by LSG on their social media handle, Maharaj was seen getting out of the car and the song “Ram Siya Ram” was played in the background.

Today, a picture is going viral on Social media where he is seen at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He is seen joining his hands beside the idol of Lord Ram.

Earlier, speaking with Sports Tak, he said due to his busy schedule he was not able to come for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir but in the future, he would love to go to Ayodhya.

“Unfortunately, the schedule didn’t allow me to visit during the temple’s inauguration. But in the future, I would definitely love to go and see the temple in Ayodhya,” Maharaj said.

“Fingers crossed. Hopefully in the near future. Maybe the Lucknow franchise…(pause)..my family always wanted to go on pilgrimage to India,” he said.

Not part of the official squad

Keshav Maharaj is not part of the official squad of the LSG but will be training alongside the team. Keshav Maharaj is part of the Super Giant in SA20 which is also owned by the same group RPSG.

“While Keshav Maharaj, who’s also a Super Giant in the SA20, will train alongside the squad during the season, he will not be part of our official squad. However, his presence during the entire season is bound to inject positive energy into the group,” stated LSG in an official release.

LSG’s first match against RR

LSG will start their IPL campaign against RR on March 24 in Jaipur. LSG captain KL Rahul has been declared fit by the BCCI and he is also instructed to not keep wickets for the initial matches. This year LSG is coming up with a new coaching staff headed by former Australian opener Justin Langer.
