CSK batting coach makes the prediction on MS Dhoni batting ahead of match against DC

Chennai Super King’s batting coach Michael Hussey has made a strong prediction on the batting of MS Dhoni ahead of their clash against Delhi Capitals (DC). CSK will play their first game away from home in Vizag on Sunday.
The former Australian batter predicts that it is the last over of the match and MS Dhoni will be batting with the crowd roaring behind and as always vintage Dhoni finishes off the match.
“My prediction for the last over of the match is that MS Dhoni will be batting. The crowd will be roaring and MSD will hit a six to finish the match,” Hussey said in a recent video uploaded by IPL on their social media.
The former CSK Captain who stepped down from the captaincy before the start of the season is yet to bat. CSK has played two matches in the IPL so far and fans are still waiting for MS Dhoni to walk on the pitch and take the strike. MS Dhoni was succeeded by Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain.
After the win against GT (Gujarat Titans), earlier this week, Mike Hussey said, “I think we were all expecting MSD to come out and play those last sort of a few balls. But they realized that he [Sameer Rizvi] has got some natural power against spin and that is why they wanted to send the youngster out. And, you know, he delivered two sixes at the end, which was great for his confidence”.
He further explained that with impact player rule coming in they have an extra option and the batting order is quite deep so MS Dhoni had to wait for his turn.
“With the Impact Player rule coming in, we have basically got an extra batsman and an extra bowler throughout the game. So the batting order keeps lengthening. I think we have MSD at number eight. Which is crazy, you know, and MSD is batting really well at the moment as well,” he added.
MS Dhoni has not batted much in the last three seasons
Despite scoring more than 400 runs in 2018 and 2019, Dhoni has not crossed the 250 mark since IPL 2020 and he has batted down the order. Last season, leading the franchise to the fifth title, MS scored only 104 runs, in which his highest was 32.
One reason behind this is that during 2018 and 2019 he was actively playing international cricket and had breaks only when there was red ball cricket. But after he retires from international cricket, there is a dip in his batting. Although, he is 42 years old.
CSK will look for their third win and DC for the first
In the 13th match of IPL 2024, CSK will look for their third win in a row and DC will want to win their first match at their home ground Vizag. In the last five matches between the two teams, CSK has won 4 and DC has won only 1.
